Former Indian cricketer held on drug charges

Former Indian cricketer Maninder Singh has been arrested for possessing 1,5g of cocaine, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Singh (41) was arrested at his New Delhi residence after a police raid on Tuesday and would be produced in a city court on Wednesday, the spokesperson said.

If convicted, Singh could face a six-month jail term or a fine or both.

The former left-arm spinner took 88 wickets in 35 Tests before his 11-year career ended in 1993 at the age of 27. — Reuters
