Taxpayers will start receiving the new, simplified tax return forms from Monday, the South African Revenue Service (Sars) has announced.
By the end of July, almost four million IT12S and IT12C returns will have been mailed.
Tax returns in Adobe PDF could also be downloaded from the internet, printed out, completed and submitted manually.
Taxpayers could also complete and submit forms entirely online through eFiling. Both of these methods would be available from August.
The deadline for submitting returns was October 31.
Those who had not received a return in the mail by August 31 and who would not use the Adobe PDF returns or eFiling should contact the Sars call centre on 0860 121 218 or their nearest Sars branch.
The new tax returns did not require supporting documentation such as IRP5 forms, medical aid, pension, travel and investment documents to be submitted.
”Instead taxpayers must retain the documents for five years in case Sars requests them.” — Sapa
