The case against one of the men accused of being behind the African National Congress hoax email saga was postponed in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Muziwendoda Kunene, wearing a white suit, appeared briefly in court where his new lawyer asked for another postponement.
His lawyer, Asif Latib, told the court that Kunene’s previous lawyer did not follow his instructions and that he needed more time to prepare his case.
Latib’s work includes the finalisation of a high court application to challenge the constitutional validity of certain sections of the Intelligence Services Oversight Act.
Kunene stands accused under the Act of withholding information from the Inspector General of Intelligence by failing or refusing to provide a response to questions put to him.
The saga involves fake emails between ANC leaders, discrediting ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma.
Kunene’s case was postponed to November 5. — Sapa
