Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aziz Pahad is still not well enough to travel back to South Africa after being admitted to a Swedish almost a week ago.
”He is stable and improving,” Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said on Monday when asked at an unrelated press conference about the well-being of her deputy.
She said he was being cared for by Swedish and South African doctors.
It is also understood that Pahad underwent a procedure in hospital but it was not sure what the exact nature of this was.
Foreign Affairs officials also did not want to comment on the exact nature of Pahad’s illness.
He was admitted to hospital last Tuesday after falling ill while accompanying Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka on an official visit to Sweden. — Sapa
