Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aziz Pahad will return to South Africa this week after being discharged from a Swedish hospital.
Foreign affairs spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa on Tuesday said Pahad was discharged after spending almost a week being treated for an illness.
Pahad would be accompanied on his return trip by two South African doctors who were dispatched to Sweden last week to assist Swedish doctors after the minister fell ill.
The exact nature of his illness has not been made public, but Mamoepa said Pahad would be back at the department after resting for a few days at home.
Pahad fell ill while he was accompanying Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka during her official visit to Sweden. — Sapa
