The Springboks might be used to hordes of female supporters, but usually they are not of the stature of Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sue van der Merwe.
In what could be described as a case of all the president’s women, the two high-ranking government politicians would lend ”moral support” to the national side ahead of Sunday’s semifinal clash against Argentina at the Rugby World Cup.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said Mlambo- Ngcuka and Van der Merwe would visit the squad on Saturday, urging them to bring the cup home.
Their visit to the Boks comes as a side tour to an official visit by Mlambo- Ngcuka to France from Thursday to Friday. — Sapa
