The 2007 Partnership in International Management (PIM) conference takes place in Johannesburg from October 24 to 26 and is being hosted by Wits Business School.
”It is a milestone for Wits Business School, as well as a milestone for the continent of Africa,” said Professor Mthuli Ncube, the director of the business school.
It is the first time in the history of PIM that the annual international conference will be hosted in Africa. The Wits Business School is the only business school in Africa to be an accredited member of PIM.
The focus of PIM is to best serve the interests of potential and existing partnerships with regard to academic pursuits within the discipline of international management education. In this way PIM acts as a global platform for student exchange programmes.
PIM conference delegates comprise deans, professors and administration staff of these various global business schools. Students also attend.
The conference will focus on international management education, with topics including:
- Business education in Africa;
- Strategies for international business education programmes;
- Relevance of international research in management education; and
- New thinking and development aspects in management education.
- Particularly relevant to the conference is the African component, which will address issues surrounding appropriate management
education for corporate leaders in emerging market conditions. The conference also serves as a platform to identify the traits of those business leaders who have the intellectual capacity and the vision to bring global objectives to fruition.
