Alleged robber shot dead in Rosebank

An alleged robber was shot and killed and a man was in a serious condition after shots were fired during a robbery in Rosebank on Tuesday, Johannesburg paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said the shooting happened at about 12.30pm near the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Bolton Road.

”The shooting is alleged to have taken place during an armed robbery at business premises and the deceased victim is alleged to have been a suspect,” he said.

Dollman said the man — who was shot in the chest -‒ was declared dead on the scene.

A second man had been shot in the pelvis and appeared to have been stabbed in the shoulder.

He was taken to Milpark Hospital in a serious condition.

Police spokesperson Captain Cheryl Engelbrecht confirmed that a person had been killed in a shoot-out during the robbery.
