AmaZulu take shine off Platinum Stars

AmaZulu collected three points away from home when they beat a determined Platinum Stars in their Absa Premier League game at the Olympia Park Stadium on Wednesday night.

AmaZulu lead 1-0 at the break.

The game started at a frenetic pace, with AmaZulu threatening the home side and visiting their goalmouth on several occasions in the first ten minutes.

They were rewarded in the 15th minute when striker Dumisani Ngwenya managed to beat Stars’ goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands.

Stars then started applying their own tactics in search of an equaliser which never came.

Their strikers combined well but lacked the killer punch to crack AmaZulu’s defence.

The boys from KwaZulu-Natal relaxed and defended their lead by absorbing all the pressure.

Stars, since the departure of long-serving coach Owen da Gama — snatched up by Orlando Pirates at the beginning of the season — have not recovered their recent style of play.

From nine games Stars have won just two, drawn four and lost three — collecting only ten points. AmaZulu, from their nine games, have won four, drawn two and lost three, pocketing a total of 14 points. – Sapa
