Petrol price to jump by 43c a litre

The retail price of all grades of petrol will increase by 43 cents a litre (c/l) on Wednesday December 5, the Department of Minerals and Energy announced on Friday.

The wholesale price of diesel will increase by 51c/l and by 52c/l for 0,005% sulphur.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will increase by 58c/l, while the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 78c/l.

The latest changes bring the retail price of a litre of 95-octane unleaded petrol in Gauteng to R7,47 and to R7,23 at the coast — new highs.

In June the price of petrol hit an all-time high of R7,24 a litre.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased.

The average rand/United States Dollar exchange rate for the period November 2 2007 to November 29 2007 was 6,7243 compared with 6,7877 during the previous period. — I-Net Bridge
