Theft charges against Mandoza withdrawn

Charges of theft against South African singing sensation Mandoza were withdrawn in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Mandoza (29), whose real name is Mduduzi Tshabalala, and his wife, Mpho Tshabalala (27), were accused of theft under false pretences.

It has been alleged that they neglected to pay for clothing worth an estimated R19 000.

The case against them was withdrawn after their lawyer made representations to a senior prosecutor.

The lawyer would not discuss the case outside the court, nor would Mandoza and his wife.

The prominent couple sat quietly on a bench outside the court until the case was called.

Clad in a white zip-up top, blue jeans and fashionable black shoes, Mandoza hid behind dark sunglasses as he rested his head on the wall behind him while onlookers gawked.

Young girls kept a respectable distance from him but could not contain their delight at seeing the star in person, so unexpectedly. — Sapa
