Three in court for Agliotti robbery and assault

Three men accused of robbing and assaulting Brett Kebble murder accused Glenn Agliotti appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) reported.

Their case was postponed to April 9.

The SABC said the men were also believed to have been involved in a crime spree around the Bryanston area in Johannesburg, and had allegedly committed 11 other robberies, although they were in court for only two of these.

The court has not seen video footage allegedly showing the three suspects breaking into Agliotti’s house.

It is alleged that the three — Vincent Ditlhare, Mncedisi Makamo and Selby Khumalo — formed part of a group that broke into the Agliotti residence.

At the time of the incident, questions were raised about how the robbers managed to enter Agliotti’s Bryanston townhouse, despite him being under surveillance by the Scorpions.

The three men allegedly assaulted him and his family before making off with goods worth R400 000.

In November, the convicted drug smuggler testified that he was pistol-whipped after five armed men broke into his house. He also told the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court the men urinated on him, his fiancée and his teenage daughter before making off with his car. — Sapa
