Ronaldo sends United clear as Chelsea stumble

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a first-half double to send Manchester United clear at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over struggling Bolton at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

A strike from 12 yards and a long-range free-kick took Ronaldo’s goal tally for the season to 33 and left the champions three points clear of Arsenal.

United also stretched their advantage over Chelsea to five points after Avram Grant’s side were held to a 4-4 draw in an extraordinary match at White Hart Lane.

Chelsea led 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 and 4-3 but were repeatedly pegged back by Spurs, who finally secured a point courtesy of Robbie Keane’s 88th-minute strike. — Sapa-AFP
