Mandoza trial to start in December

Kwaito musician Mandoza’s culpable homicide trial will start on December 8, the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court decided on Thursday.

Mandoza (real name Mduduzi Tshabalala) faces two counts of culpable homicide after allegedly being involved in a car accident in which two people were killed in Johannesburg on March 1 this year.

Magistrate Delize Smit set the trial down for December 8 and 9.

Mandoza entered the courtroom through the back door, seemingly in an attempt to avoid photographers and stares from his fans.

He made his entrance with his manager, Vaughn Eaton, and his wife, Mpho, in tow.

In the dock, dressed in blue jeans and brown leather jacket without his signature sunglasses, he appeared calm as Smit informed him of the trial dates.

He stopped on his way out of court to shake hands with a few fans.

Outside the court, Mandoza did not shy away from photographers as he made his way to his luxurious black Mercedes C280.

Mandoza’s Chrysler Crossfire allegedly hit a Volkswagen Jetta on the N1 near the 14th Avenue off-ramp at 1.23am on March 1. The Jetta lost control and overturned, trapping the two occupants inside. They died on the scene. — Sapa
