In the latest installment of our series on the National Senior Certificate exams, we look at the Physical Science Paper 1, which was written today.
Theo Pelliessier is the deputy principal and head of science at Sasolburg High School says the paper would have been challenging for some of the learners at his school.
“It was a reasonable paper for those learners who would have been taking the subject on the old Higher Grade, but for old Standard Grade learners it was a bit more difficult,” he said.
Pellissiers says the learners would have been well prepared by the exemplars sent out by the department earlier in the year, although ‘there was less theory in the final paper’.
“But overall I, and the other science teachers here, feel it was of a good standard and don’t foresee any major surprises when the results come out.”
