A bomb exploded at Harare’s main police station this week, damaging offices but causing no casualties in the second blast there since August, state media reported on Saturday.
The central station was hit by a blast on Thursday evening, just three days after another bomb hit the headquarters of the criminal investigations department, the Herald said.
”We have stepped up security at all police stations and institutions frequented by the public,” police spokesperson Wayne Bvudzijena was quoted as saying by the daily.
A bomb last against the station in August had also damaged offices without injuring anyone.
The police station is adjacent to one of the capital’s busiest bus stations.
A spate of fire bombings occurred last year targeting police stations, with police blaming the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change party, which rejected the claims. — AFP
