All four Blairgowrie fire victims have died

A couple and their twin babies who were set alight in Blairgowrie have all subsequently died, the Star reported on Tuesday.

The twin boy, Thokomalo, died on Sunday afternoon and his father, known only as Thabo, died on Friday night, the newspaper reported.

The mother of the children, Maice Moyo, died the Sunday after the fire on August 7. The other twin, a 14-month-old girl, died a few days later.

All four were set on fire in an attack at the house where Moyo worked as a domestic worker in Olympic Street.

Police earlier said it appeared that a love triangle may have been the reason for the attack, and not a robbery as was initially thought.

Last week, police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Eugene Opperman said investigations were continuing.

On Tuesday, the Star reported Moyo’s brother, Robert, as saying that his sister had six other children aged between eight and 20. He said four of them lived in Zimbabwe.

”The first time I heard of Maice’s death I could not believe it. I went to the police station and they showed me a passport and books burnt a little that belonged to my sister. That was when I realised it was true,” Moyo’s brother told the paper.

”I was shocked. I can’t sleep at night. There is a lot of pain in me,” he said. — Sapa
