Members of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will visit all nine provinces next week to gather first-hand information about government service delivery.
Parliament on Wednesday stated that the provincial week from September 7 to 11 would enable permanent NCOP delegates to interact with provinces, to report back to the NCOP on their experiences and to get new mandates about issues that should be on the national legislative agenda.
The focus of the provincial week would be on measures that provinces and municipalities were putting in place to deliver quality services to the people and addressing the current service-delivery backlog.
The delegates will assess progress in the delivery of quality services to communities, at areas that experienced community protests over service delivery. — Sapa
