Dis-Chem considers listing

Drugs retailer Dis-Chem is considering listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), Business Report said citing director Saul Saltzman.

”Rumours that we’re listing soon are just that, but we are not ruling out this possibility in future,” the paper quoted Saltzman as saying.

The Johannesburg-based company, which was established in 1978 and still owned by its founders, runs 40 pharmacies nationally.

The company’s closest competitor is Clicks, which operates the biggest drugs stores in South Africa with 200 outlets.

No-one at Dis-Chem was immediately available for comment. — Reuters
