Bok hero Montgomery arrested over alleged assault

Former Springbok star Percy Montgomery was arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting his wife, Tasmin, the Star reported on Friday.

According to the charge sheet, Montgomery allegedly assaulted his wife by squeezing her leg and throwing a punch at her. The incident took place at Tasmin’s parents’ apartment in Umhlanga Rocks.

Montgomery appeared in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

He was released on R1 500 bail.

The case was postponed to November 6 for further investigation and for Montgomery to acquire legal representation, the newspaper reported. — Sapa
