Gauteng’s 10111 telephone lines are down, the provincial police said on Thursday.
”The public is asked to have the telephone number of their local police stations’ client service centre at hand.
”This is the number people with crime emergencies have to phone until further notice,” said Superintendent Eugene Opperman.
It’s believed that the lines went down after the storm on Wednesday night, which caused power failures in most parts of the province, he said.
”Telkom technicians are working on the problem and a further media statement will be issued once the 10111 centre can again take calls from the public.” — Sapa
