Nomili specialises in the design of unique and customised products that are digitally manufactured. The objects are designed on computer and realised using rapid manufacturing or 3D printing methods. The products and services range from lighting, interior products, jewellery, sculpture, 3D limited editions and one-off pieces.
Principal designer Michaella Janse van Vuuren won last year’s Most Beautiful Object in South Africa for her Chrysanthemum Centrepiece. She is the only South African designer exploring the possibilities of rapid manufacturing and 3D printing methods. She is an electrical engineer by training and has had experience using 3D printing to create prostheses and bone transplants.
