The Revolutionary House spoof — a video hosted by Youtube that features a house remix of utterances of the ANC Youth League president Julius Malema– has already received 18 299 views in just over two weeks of being posted.
The video was made from snippets of the press conference at which Malema launched an attack on BBC Journalist Jonah Fisher at the ANC’s headquaters, Luthuli House in Johannesburg on April 8. It was first posted seven days later, on April 15.
The mix has been described as ”awesome”, ”cool” and ”da bomb,” by commentators on the site, and with lyrics like ”bloody agent”, ”bastard”, ”don’t laugh,” it’s a clever piece of editing.
When Malema hurled the insults he was addressing the media on a recent visit to Zimbabwe by a delegation of the league, and it was his criticism of the Movement for Democratic Change — the Zimbabwean opposition party. He said the party’s officials should go back to Zimbabwe instead of working from offices in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Fisher interjected, saying Malema himself lived in Sandton.
Malema told Fisher that Luthuli House ”is a building of a revolutionary party and you know nothing about revolution so here you behave or else you jump.”
The video seems to have found favour in some of Youtube’s users.
One commentator wrote: ”There is something good in everybody. Even South Africa’s greatest idiot Malema is good for something”.
