Standard Bank clients get anti-phishing software

Despite all the warnings, banking customers are still being conned by emails that appear to originate from their banks, but which are just phishing scams trying to obtain private banking information.

To combat this, Standard Bank is providing its customers with free anti-phishing software that also protects against online fraud by malware.

According to the bank, the new software, Rapport, will protect customers from divulging sensitive financial details to fraudsters when banking online.

The Rapport online banking security software can detect a phishing threat and inform Standard Bank of potential bogus sites so that the bank’s security division can take the necessary steps to stop the attempted fraud.

Customers can download the free Rapport secure browsing software from the Standard Bank Online Banking website.
