Gupta Group confirms launch of new daily

The Gupta Group on Tuesday confirmed it will launch a new national daily newspaper in September.

“In response to the numerous media enquiries, I confirm that the Gupta Group will fund a new national daily paper,” former minister in the Presidency and one of the people behind the new newspaper, Essop Pahad, said.

The paper will be called the New Age.

“This paper is not and will not be affiliated to the ANC,” he said in a statement.

Former Business Day journalist Vuyo Mvoko would be its editor. Gupta would hold a press briefing about the paper later this month.

Pahad also publishes The Thinker magazine, also a Gupta Group product. — Sapa
