The price of all grades of petrol will drop by 10 cents per litre on Wednesday next week, the Energy Department said on Friday.
The wholesale price of diesel with a 0,05% sulphur content would drop by 13 cents per litre, as would diesel with a 0,005% sulphur content, the department said.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would decline by 15 cents a litre, while the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would drop by 20 cents a litre.
A litre of petrol 95 ULP in Gauteng would now cost R8,17.
The department added that during the period under review — July 2 to July 29 2010 — the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin had decreased.
Meanwhile, the average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period had strengthened.
It was 7,5757 compared with 7,6708 during the previous period, the department said. — Sapa
