We’re hiring

The Mail & Guardian‘s website is looking for a specialised content producer. The role is part administrative, part editorial with lots of other bits thrown in to keep things fun.

Most importantly you’ll get to work with the driven M&G online team and help create an online presence for South Africa’s premier investigative newspaper.

Key Outputs

  • Upload the Mail & Guardian newspaper to the website every week
  • Assist in convergence between the newspaper and the website
  • Run special reports based on both newspaper and online content
  • Create a schedule and run the promotion of newspaper content throughout the week
  • Sub-edit, craft headlines, captions and blurbs
  • Create written content
  • Assist in the production of multimedia content
  • Be able to work flexible hours

Qualifications & Experience

  • Appropriate post-matric qualification
  • Basic HTML knowledge an advantage
  • Online experience would be a great advantage, particularly any experience using a content management system

Knowledge

  • Net-savvy
  • Knowledge of media law and ethics
  • First-class English language skills
  • A firm grasp of current affairs, both local and international
  • A thorough understanding of the Mail & Guardian news brand
