Dance act Faithless are splitting up, according to a message posted on their Facebook page.
The statement, written by frontman Maxi Jazz, said it was “time to close to the book” on the band’s 15-year career.
“We’ve had, with you, the most unbelievable, epic and moving experience”, the singer wrote.
He concluded with “You’ll be in my heart forever. Listen for my voice in future lifetimes, I only grow in your shadow, you’re the sun to me.”
In response to the outpouring of shock and disappointment by their fans, the band posted again, saying “Absolutely overwhelming amount of kind words for the band after today’s news.”
They indicated they would honour all upcoming tour commitments.
Faithless formed in 1995, and soon found success with their single Insomnia. This was followed by other hits such as God is a DJ and We Become One. They have toured to South Africa twice, with fellow United Kingdom dance act The Prodigy in 1999, and earlier this year.
