Smoking-hot Durban outfit the La Els arrived on the music scene in the most emphatic style last year by coming out of nowhere to win the inaugural Global Moguls competition.
Defying the conventional wisdom of every hack in the industry, the La Els blew the competition out of the water with their first live show. Eight months into their existence, the band has captured their filthy funk, diabolical disco, sweaty synth and righteous rock on their eponymous debut album, which is being launched at shows around the country. The tour kicks off at Durban’s top nightclub this weekend. Support comes in the form of DJs Night Vision, We’ve Been Hacked and Veranda Panda. The entrance fee gets you a free EP.
The Origin, corner of Clark and Umbilo streets, May 13, 9pm. Entrance R50 before 10pm and R60 after. Students R30.
