Cape music picks: May 27 2011

Jazz or jazzy electro? Whatever suits your mood, Cape town is offering it this week.

■ In the next three months Goldfish will join David Guetta’s F*ck Me I’m Famous residency roster at Ibiza, perform for 8 000 revellers at Brazil’s Green Valley jungle wonderland and support INXS in London, Moby in Holland and Groove Armada in Oslo. At this farewell performance, audiences can expect their full bevy of guest vocalists, spectacular lighting, surround sound and confetti
cannons.

The Assembly, 61 Harrington Street, May 28, 9pm. Entrance is R85 (presold).

■ Since he graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2001, pianist and composer Jason Reolon has been searching for new ways to express the meaning of jazz. Over the past decade he has also performed, recorded and collaborated with diverse artists including trombonist Siya Makuzeni, saxophonist Rus Nerwich and singer-songwriters Claire Phillips and James Stewart. It is this eclectic cocktail of influences that Reolon swings through at the launch of his latest album, Outline, with Wesley Rustin (double bass) and Heinrich Goosen (drums).

Freeworld Design Centre auditorium, 71 Waterkant Street, Cape Waters Building, Cape Town, June 1, 7pm. Entrance is R100. Booking at Computicket is essential. Only 110 seats available.
