Cape comedy pick: July 29 2011

August is Women’s Month. Cracks and the City II, the all-female comedy quartet featuring Shimmy Isaacs, Anne Hirsch, Anthea Thompson and Marianne Thamm, returns with a two-week run of a new full-length show with fresh material and sketches.

It is directed by Alan Committie. Individually, all four Cracks are involved in other work. Isaacs has been touring with her award-winning show, Allie Pad Funny Worcester, Hirsch has co-written and performed three one-woman shows, Thompson is due to open her one-woman show, Living Remote, at the Kalk Bay Theatre and Thamm has just finished adapting Douglas Rogers’s Zimbabwe memoir, The Last Resort, for the stage.
