Bamboo Farmers’ Market in Melville has embraced the practices of the slow-food movement.
There is actually a local group called Slow Food Johannesburg and, from this weekend, the market and the group will be working towards establishing the first accredited Earth Market in the city. Such a market is described as a place where ‘farmers, growers or producers from a defined local area are present in person to sell their own produce, direct to the public. All products sold should have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder.”
Bamboo, corner of Rustenburg Road and 5th Street, Melville. On August 13 from 9am to 1pm. Tel: 082 042 2001.
