Durban art pick: September 30 2011

Sifundakwabadala (Learning from Elders) is the solo showing of new paintings by increasingly renowned KwaZulu-Natal artist Sibusiso Duma, an erstwhile understudy of the late, great Trevor Makhoba.

The Space In-between showcases the work of Wayne Reddiar and Suzanne Sita, two artists whose work runs along intersecting trajectories of technology and identity. They explore the extent to which the ubiquitous congruency between technology and society affect notions of selfhood or, to paraphrase Walter Benjamin, how the making of art in pursuit of truth is shaped by the age of mechanical reproduction.
