The Chimurenga Chronic street poster campaign is a public art intervention on the streets of Johannesburg and Cape Town (South Africa), Goteborg (Sweden), Lagos (Nigeria) and Nairobi (Kenya).
Culled directly from the Chronic newspaper, the street poster titles are bold questions and provocations that demand a response or an answer.
The posters explore the city as a newspaper, tapping into how word of mouth and conversations on the street generate news and extending conversations of Chronic beyond the page into public space.
The content of the posters has been generated by the Chimurenga team in collaboration with acclaimed Swedish poet Linn Hansen. They are designed by artist Rangoato Hlasane with Johannesburg-based Keleketla! Collective and the Chimurenga design team.
