Struggling Cosmos manage late draw to Black Leopards

In a bottom of the Premier Soccer League clash, Jomo Cosmos salvaged a 1-1 draw against Black Leopards with an injury time equaliser from Siyabonga Nontshinga at the Giyani stadium on Tuesday.

Leopards, after scoring a goal early in the first half, held out for the entire game, only to concede in extra time.

Nontshinga was on hand to convert a rebound from Bongani Theletsane’s saved shot to earn a valuable point.

The struggling Cosmos outfit are still winless after 12 games and remain bottom of the log.

The draw ensures that the Leopards remain 15th on the table.

Leopards came into the match off the back of a win over AmaZulu, breaking a seven-match winless streak.

Bringing out the best
Cosmos had not fared much better coming into the match after suffering a 3-0 loss at the hands of Golden Arrows.

In the 16th minute Leopards opened the scoring through Obaje.

Obaje fired into the net from close range after receiving the ball from Mahlatse Maak.

Leopards were close to doubling their lead 12 minutes later when Cosmos player Ousmane Berthe was adjudged to have fouled Obaje outside the box.

Khethokwakhe Masuku took the free kick, which brought the best out of the Cosmos keeper Avril Phali.

In the second half, both sides introduced players from the bench but goals were scarce.
