The Bioscope, at Main Street Life in the Maboneng precinct, opened its doors to 2012 this week.
But the movie house’s website suggests that the year is getting off to a slow start. This weekend you can play catch-up with its first programme, titled Best of 2011. Highlights include Gabi on the Roof in July, a movie for all ages directed by Lawrence Michael Levine in 2010. Set in New York today, it is described as a “portrait of young New York and the misguided hopefuls who can’t afford to live there but do anyway. This ensemble comedy is about ex-girlfriends, sibling rivalry and whipped cream in a city that’s constantly in flux.”
The Bioscope, 286 Fox Street, on January 14 at 5pm. Tel: 010?007?0119. Website: thebioscope.co.za.
