M&G’s publisher selected for digital media board

The Mail & Guardian‘s publisher Anastacia Martin has been voted head of the Digital Media and Marketing Association’s (DMMA) new education and transformation portfolio.

On January 19, the DMMA appointed its new executive committee at its annual general meeting.

Nikki Cockcroft from Woolworths Online was voted as chairperson of the committee. She is also the head of the DMMA’s digital industry awards, the Bookmarks.

Martin said, “I firmly believe that the future of education in Africa is digital and am focused on contributing my time and effort to this cause”.

She has worked in media and marketing for over 20 years and made a pivotal contribution towards the creation of the M&G‘s education hub.

The deputy chairperson of the eight-member committee is Jarred Cinman from Native. Marketing will be headed by MWEB’s corporate social strategist Suzanne Little.

Geoff Cohen, head of 24.com, will be in charge of publishers’ interests. Acting alongside him is Clint Bryce of marketing agency Quirk, responsible for agencies’ interests.

Paula Raubenheimer of media and marketing group Habari was chosen to head up the association’s measurement portfolio, which will work with Effective Measure.

The DMMA’s research portfolio will be headed by Gustav Goosen of Spacestation, who served as the association’s head of monitoring in 2011.
