The Solar Eclipse In 7 Instagrams

Sky watchers in parts of Africa, the US and Europe were treated to the sighting of a rare hybrid solar eclipse over the weekend. The total eclipse could be seen from parts in Africa with the best view offered to those in Kenya, and across the Atlantic. A full eclipse of this stature has not been seen in Africa for over 40 years.

According to space.com the eclipse, which took place on Sunday, started over the Atlantic ocean as a annular eclipse and transitioned into a full solar eclipse for those situated in the eastern Atlantic and parts of Africa.

Many observers readily snapped shots of the rarity and shared the amazing sighting on Instagram. Here's a look at seven awesome eclipse pictures.
