M&G Newsroom: Searching for the Nkandla truth

M&g Newsroom: Searching For The Nkandla Truth

The wait for answers on how and why more than R200-million in public funds was spent on upgrades at President Jacob Zuma's private home in Nkandla is getting longer as the government's security cluster drags public protector Thuli Madonsela to court. Mail & Guardian reporter Sarah Evans will be filling us in on these interesting developments.

Mozambique's revived rebel movement Renamo is threatening another civil war and has rejected the government's invite for peace talks to end destabilising military skirmishes. We'll be talking to a researcher at the South African Institute of International Affairs, Aditi Lalbahadur, about this renewed rebellion and what's behind this.

The ill-treatment of mentally disabled people in parts of rural Eastern Cape will also be discussed on the show. M&G health editor Mia Malan will join us in studio to tell us more about this problem.

In music we'll bring you the Weekly Choon: a song dedicated to all ministers in the security cluster who are interdicting the public protector to stop her from releasing a report on Nkandla spending.
