Angie Stone's 30-year-old daughter
Grammy-nominated singer Angie Stone was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of domestic aggravated assault. According to New York Daily News reports, 53-year-old Stone is accused of knocking out the front teeth of her 30-year-old daughter Diamond with a metal stand at her home in Lithonia, Georgia.
Diamond told police that the altercation, which took place on Monday 9 March, started when her mother came into her room demanding that she clean up and restrain her children, who were “running around the house half naked”, according to People magazine.
Stone then asked Diamond to leave and that’s when “things became physical”.
Diamond says her mother started punching her in the face and hit her with the metal stand. When Stone realised she had hit Diamond, she put the stand away and tried to distance herself from her daughter.
News reports say Stone told police a different version of the incident. According to the singer, she used the stand to defend herself after Diamond punched her. A family friend broke up the fight. No charges were filed against Diamond, People reported.
Stone, who is known for her hit songs Wish I Didn’t Miss You and No More Rain, was arrested in 2011 for speeding on a suspended driver’s licence in Georgia. She has a 16-year-old son with neo soul singer D’Angelo.
