Climate change has become an important political consideration, as highlighted at the climate change summit in Bali and the ANC Polokwane conference. Both events emphasised the role the business community has to play in protecting and enhancing the environment.
The Greening the Future Awards remind us of our responsibility to save tomorrow today — for generations to come. There is no doubt that the recipients of the awards remain a shining light in the communities many moons after the awards have been presented. It is important, though, to see the awards as a pointer, not an end in itself.
The Zimbabwe government says it acted in the public interest when it launched a controversial urban clean-up campaign in May that was later condemned by the United Nations, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reported Wednesday.
