Dark Porcelain: New Google service makes a splash

Presiding over a company with a market value of -billion apparently gives Silicon Valley’s most famous billionaires a good sense of humour. Google launched their annual April Fools’ Day prank on Sunday, posting a link on the company’s home page to a site offering consumers free high-speed wireless internet through their home plumbing systems.

Amazulu relegation woes continue

Bloemfontein Celtic pushed Amazulu deeper into the relegation zone when they beat them 1-0 in a PSL game played at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday. Celtic striker Nthokozo Sikhakhane opened the scoring in the 39th minute when he beat Amazulu goalkeeper Tshepo Motshwening in the far right corner.

Pakistan team pay tribute to Woolmer

Pakistan’s cricket team on Sunday paid tribute to Bob Woolmer at an emotional memorial service as speculation continued over the precise manner of the coach’s death. The team joined 200 mourners at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Lahore, the home of Pakistani cricket, in observing a minute’s silence and offering prayers for the ”shepherd”.

Zandberg wins 50m backstroke gold

Gerhard Zandberg won the men’s 50m backstroke final on Sunday to provide South Africa with their second gold medal at the world championships. Zandberg stormed to victory in 24,98 seconds, giving South Africa their second win after Roland Schoeman won the men’s 50m butterfly.

Jayasuriya inspires Sri Lanka’s win

Sanath Jayasuriya clubbed a vintage hundred and Sri Lanka all but ended the West Indies’ World Cup semifinal hopes with a 113-run Super Eights win on Sunday. Jayasuriya’s 115 from 101 balls and his 183-run third-wicket partnership with skipper Mahela Jayawardene (82) set up Sri Lanka’s imposing 303 for five.
