Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe has laughed off rumours of a near R500 000 a month salary for midfielder Elias Pelembe.
Sundowns, Bidvest Wits and the Free State Stars garnered their first premiership wins of the season, while the Amakhosi swiped a second victory.
Zimbabwean Nyasha Mushekwi and Mozambican Elias Pelembe scored the goals that gave Mamelodi Sundowns a 2-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.
Pressure is reaching boiling point as the Premiership draws to a close with Mamelodi Sundowns confident they can edge SuperSport United to the title.
SuperSport United took a step closer to winning their first Absa Premiership title when they beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in their penultimate fixture of the season at Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium on Wednesday night. United led 1-0 at half-time. The win heaps pressure on second-placed Ajax Cape Town, who play Santos on Thursday night.
SuperSport United remained on top of the Premier Soccer League table after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Orlando Pirates at the Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday night. Elias Pelembe scored in the second minute to keep United in the hunt for a first league title. They now have 47 points from 25 games.

It was always going to be a Premier League game in which a solitary goal — much like a bolt of lightning on a cloudless sky — would decide the issue at Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium on Saturday night. And, in a dour clash lacking in inspiration, the bolt of lightning was provided by a 24th minute Rudi Isaacs header.

Who said comedy was dead? It was alive and well at Durban’s King Zwelethini Stadium on Wednesday night as SuperSport secured a 91st minute goal to beat Golden Arrows 1-0 in what turned out to be a comedy of errors. In the end it was left to Lithe Mozambican midfielder Elias Pelembe to cannon a 20m shot in additional time into the roof of the net.

SuperSport United held Kaizer Chiefs to a 0-0 draw in an entertaining Premier Soccer League game at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Sunday. Chiefs had the better chances and played with a swagger that had the hosts on the back foot for most of the game, but could not beat the superb Dennis Onyango in goal.

Moroka Swallows completed a 1-1 Premier Soccer League (PSL) draw against Santos at an almost deserted Athlone Stadium on Sunday. Also, Jomo Cosmos beat SuperSport United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars drew 1-1 and Ajax Cape Town came back from behind to beat Benoni Premier United 2-2.
