Three men have been arrested in connection with an Absa ATM bombing at Phagameng township in Modimolle on Wednesday, Limpopo police said. Spokesperson Superintendent Malesela Ledwaba said the men were caught after a massive search. ”We are still searching for two more men involved in the bombing.”
The Italian ambassador to South Africa, Alessandro Cevese, was killed in a freak accident in Tom Burke, Limpopo police said on Saturday. Police spokesperson Superintendent Ronel Otto said Cevese was apparently part of a hunting party that was travelling in an open vehicle early on Saturday morning. The vehicle swerved to avoid an eland that crossed its path and overturned.

Two South African men were arrested while trying to smuggle nearly R750-million worth of heroin into the country at the Beit Bridge border post from Zimbabwe, Limpopo police said on Tuesday. Police said the heroin was found in a secret compartment at the base of the truck.

A four-year-old boy was killed and a six-year-old girl was raped in Lebowa-Kgomo, near Polokwane, Limpopo police said on Sunday. Captain Mamphaswa Seabi said the children had been at a spaza shop a few blocks away from their homes at about 6pm on Saturday when the attacks took place.

Bones were found in a field in Modimolle on Friday after 200 police officers searched for the bodies of children who have been missing from the area since 2004, Limpopo police said. ”We are not sure if the bones belong to one of the missing children, or if they are human,” said a police spokesperson.

A 19-year-old was arrested for child neglect after three of her four children were found in a cage, Limpopo police said on Friday. Spokesperson Superintendent Ronel Otto said the woman, who is seven months pregnant, was arrested on Thursday in Zebediela outside Polokwane.
