Petrus Mahlatsi’s brace kept Bloemfontein Celtic’s hopes of qualifying for the top eight alive when they beat Bidvest Wits 2-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday. Celtic meant business from the start, pushing forward in numbers in search of the lead. Their efforts paid off as early as the second minute when Mahlatsi broke the deadlock.
Wits coach Roger de Sa is hoping to put the cherry on top of a successful season when the Students host improved Platinum Stars at Milpark on Wednesday night (8pm). De Sa has done a fantastic job in rebuilding the side since the start of the Absa Premiership season for little cost.
Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits drew 2-2 in their Premier Soccer League clash at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Saturday afternoon. Abafana Besithende, as Arrows are known, dominated the first 20 minutes of the game and were rewarded in the 10th minute with a goal.
Santos continued their fine form of late when they secured a 2-1 win over Wits at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday night. Wits started the game brightly and had early chances through Noah Chivuta, but his long-range shots did not have the beating of Wayne Roberts.

Bidvest Wits were held to a 1-1 draw by Santos in an Absa Premier League played at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday. Former Santos midfielder Marawaan Bantam netted in the third minute with a close-range header and Erwin Isaacs scored with a low shot which surprised the Wits captain and goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs.
