KwaZulu-Natal economic development and tourism minister Mike Mabuyakhulu on Friday defended his R100Â 000 monthly mileage claims.
KZN minister Mike Mabuyakhulu received an average of R100 000 a month for using his private car for government work, it was reported on Friday.

The 37-year-old mayor of a KwaZulu-Natal South Coast municipality was killed in a car crash, police said on Thursday. Police spokesperson Zandra Hechter said Mfundo Lushaba, the mayor of Umzumbe, was found dead in his Toyota Hilux double-cab about 10m from the Ifafa offramp on the N2 near the resort town of Hibberdene.

Unsustainable human settlements were part of apartheid planning, the KwaZulu-Natal local government department said on Thursday at the start of a two-day housing summit in Durban. ”We can no longer romanticise about human settlements …,” said provincial minister of local government Mike Mabuyakhulu.
