An application to halt construction of the R54-million Chapman’s Peak building in Cape Town has been dismissed in the Western Cape High Court.
Hout Bay residents are fighting tooth and nail to stop the construction of an office block on Chapman’s Peak drive by the operators of the toll road.

Toyota South Africa on Sunday condemned the illegal conversion of its panel vans into taxis.
A PR company has rejected a DA claim that there are ”serious grounds for concern” over R44-million it received from the Western Cape government.
Cape Town’s director of health, former anti-conscription campaigner Ivan Toms, was found dead in his home on Tuesday morning, police said. Police spokesperson Superintendent Billy Jones said foul play was not suspected at this stage. He said police used a key from a neighbour to gain access to Toms’ Mowbray home at about 9.30am.

Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool has apologised to the provincial legislature for ”incorrect” statements made before it on overspending. ”To bring finality and closure to an unfortunate episode, I apologise for anything I said that led to the conclusion of the ad-hoc committee,” he said in Cape Town on Tuesday.
