Despite a valiant 70 not out by Roelof van der Merwe, a record haul of five for 13 by Elton Chigumbura gave Zimbabwe a thrilling, 12-run victory over the Titans in their Standard Bank Pro20 match at Supersport Park on Friday night. It was the Titans’ third successive loss.
Excellent batting and bowling took the Titans to a well-deserved 38-run victory over the Warriors in the final of the MTN domestic championship at SuperSport Park on Wednesday. Put in to bat by the Warriors, the Titans scored an impressive 269-6 — the highest total in any match in the championship this season.

The Titans maintained their unbeaten record in the MTN domestic championship this season with a four-wicket victory over the Highveld Lions in a rain-shortened match at the Wanderers on Friday. Chasing a modest total of 139 in 38 overs to win, the Titans looked far from convincing as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

A career-best 68 by Jaco Booysen helped the Titans to maintain their unbeaten record as they stuttered to a one wicket victory over the Warriors in their MTN domestic championship match at Supersport Park on Wednesday. A second wicket partnership of 117 off 122 balls between Gulam Bodi and Francois ”Faf” du Plessis guided the Titans to a comfortable seven wicket victory over Zimbabwe in their MTN domestic championship match at Supersport Park on Tuesday.
A weakened Dolphins cricket side, including a player fresh out of school, has been named for the key away fixtures against the Titans and the Eagles in the Supersport Series over the next two weekends. The Dolphins, currently in second spot, ended the 2007 half of the season on a dismal note as their batting collapsed.

South Africa salvaged some pride by taking six wickets for 26 runs in the last session on the third day of the first Test against the West Indies on Friday. At close of play, the West Indies were 146-8 for an overall lead of 359 runs. South Africa resumed play on 122-6, with all hopes of achieving some respectability resting on veteran wicketkeeper Mark Boucher and the young AB de Villiers.

The Warriors’ Lonwabo Tsotsobe finished with career-best figures of seven wickets for 39 runs from 21 overs in their SuperSport Series match against the Lions at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Friday. In Benoni, the Cobras were playing the Titans and in Durban it was the Eagles and the Dolphins.
There is a serious amount of work to be done before the International Cricket Council Twenty20 World Cup tournament, which starts on September 11, said South African cricket coach Mickey Arthur on Monday, after the Proteas’ return from their 3-0 one-day international series victory over Zimbabwe.
