New Zealand’s Auckland Blues scored three tries in a devastating 12-minute blitz to defeat Australia’s Western Force in the Super 14 on Friday.
The controversial fuel technology company Firepower, appears on the verge of collapse, with its offices abandoned in Perth and other parts of the world, and the company owing millions of dollars to rugby union players, the Western Force club, basketballers and other creditors.
The Stormers are planning to hit the Lions’ defence hard where it is likely to hurt most in Saturday’s Super 14 clash at Ellis Park. The fragile Lions’ defence have leaked 41 tries this season, and after 12 matches they have conceded a staggering 345 points — almost 29 points per game.
The Western Force rose from the dead to beat the ACT Brumbies 29-22 in an entertaining Super 14 clash on Friday. The match had no bearing on the finals, but the Force’s seventh win ensured they finished as the second-best Australian side this season, behind the Waratahs.
