Chiefs consider tour options

TUESDAY, 11.00AM:

KAIZER CHIEFS management is having a rethink about Amakhosi’s participation in the African Caf Cup competition, and whether to go ahead with a planned tour of China in the last week of June.

Chiefs’ coach Jeff Butler and the club directors will meet on Tuesday to discuss how financially viable it will be for the team to go to China, as one of the two scheduled tour matches has been called off. Also, Butler said, “A lot of celebrations are being planned for the pull-out of Britain from Hong Kong and football is not considered part of the celebratory plans.”

Butler also said the Caf Cup is under consideration. “If I had my way I would not take part in a competition which has no (financial) returns for the club,” he said. The directors’ decision will be announced later this week.
